Wayne County High School band students recently went on their second trip to the 64th annual Morehead State University Honor Bands Clinic from Thursday, February 15 to Saturday, February 17. The students that made the Honor Bands included:
ELLIOT BAND
Kadence Fairchild – 4th Chair Alto Saxophone
Jana Kachakeche – 8th Chair Trumpet
THOMPSON BAND
Matthew Spencer – 1st Chair Tuba
MOORE BAND
Jillian Neal – 4th Chair Clarinet
Nick Meece – 1st Chair Alto Saxophone
Placido Vicente – 1st Chair Euphonium
Zach Pyles – 4th Chair Percussion
These students were given the opportunity to showcase their skills and abilities to put on a terrific concert that Saturday night. During their time there, students were presented with two concerts on Thursday and Friday night of the Morehead State Bands, as well as being part of Master Classes held by different Morehead State professors that Friday. That Saturday morning, three Wayne County Band seniors were given the chance to audition to be part of the MSU Band, as well as earning a scholarship. These students were: Nick Meece, Jillian Neal, and Matthew Spencer. All three students were accepted into the band by their auditions.
“We are extremely proud of these students for all the hard work they have put into making these Honor Band Clinics, as well as the seniors who auditioned to be part of the MSU College Band in the fall,” said Band Director Andy Critz.
